WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE…
Stoke Row guaranteed their Premier League survival with a comprehensive win over basement side Harlington. Skipper Macdonald won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Hennessy and Macdonald set about their task scoring at almost 6 runs an over. Faisal Khan was brought into the attack and he managed to slow the run rate down to a degree but not before Row scored their first opening century stand of the season. Everntually, Hennessy was caught at mid wicket off the spinner for an excellent 48. Macdonald carried on playing his shots while Phil Duncan promoted up the order to 3 looked solid before slashing at a wide one which was caught at fly slip. This brought Sam Fletcher to the crease who looked in ominous form. Macdonald was eventually caught in the deep for a fine 62 . Fletcher was then joined by Sam Boughton. Boughton enjoyed a fair bit of luck… bowled off a no ball and then dropped off a sitter! The pair pushed Row into an excellent position as they landed a series of big blows that got the Row total up to 266-3.
In reply Row started well. Harlington were left at 41-3 after the first 10 overs with all the dangermen having been dismissed. Charlie Macdonald picked up Faisal Khan thanks to a good catch from Paddy Hennessy and had Hammed bowled round his legs . When Fletcher bowled skipper Raja, Row really did have the upperhand. Boughton and Macdonald were brought into the attack and wickets fell at regular intervals even if the boundary was found on regular occaisions. Hennessy continued his good day with two more catches at mid off and Macdonald even managed to take a catch of his own bowling. When Will Bishop caught one in the deep the result was academic and Macdonald bowled the final man to finish with his first 5 wicket haul of the season.
